Dating back several thousand years, Ancient Egyptians took rounded stones or wooden hammers to beat gold into thin malleable sheets - they were known as "Gilders" This ancient tradition has been used through-out time; being placed within pieces of art or built into many ancient and historical building and sites. Timeless and Elegant. We follow the same traditions here at SpartaCraft, using imported sheets of fine metals and bonding them directly onto the surface of the furniture - each one hand done, with care, using the same techniques as those used by ancient artisans. The process is multi-stepped, each one performed with a precision that allows for the thin metallic sheet to bond and form, matching the shape and the texture of the piece it is being applied to.
